Young-onset multiple sclerosis support group

18 June 2014

The first support group we organised was for young people who have recently been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).  The MS nurse specialists, Nicola Macleod and Matt Justin, invited those who had expressed an interest in attending a group meeting such as this.

The purpose of the meetings was to give individuals an opportunity to ask questions, to meet other people who have been diagnosed with MS and to have the opportunity to tell us how we can best meet their needs.  The meetings were held over three consecutive weeks and were then extended by a further two evenings on demand.  The format of the meetings was relaxed and informal, and people were encouraged to bring along a friend or partner.

We have had positive feedback about these meetings and hope that the people who attended found them useful.

If there is a particular support group that you would like to attend at the Clinic, please get in touch
